Mark your calendars! We have two events with two very worthy causes that we will be partnering with during the months of May and June.
To celebrate Women’s Health Care Month, on May 11th we will be supporting Raleigh-based organization, The Helene Foundation.
Perhaps you have a mother, are a mother, or know a mother currently receiving or having received Cancer treatments. You know as a woman, going through something like that is alreay difficult but as the Matriarch of the family, it’s even harder.
Women are the nurturers. They tend to be the primary example of muli-tasking to the highest degree: career-driven, car pooling, grocery shopping, cooks, cleaners, laundry facilitators. Women pretty much know when the toothpaste is running low and it’s time to get a new tube. They know when they’ve seen holes in their children’s underwear (or their own), it’s time to get a new supply. Women think like that all the time. They are the care-givers of the family. Now, imagine being so sick that you can’t help facilitate homework completion or cook that nutritious meal. I may be overdoing it here but I think you get the point.
Our Tweet Divas will be giving back to the Helene Foundation on May 11th as we gather together for networking fun. It’s a very worthy cause & I hope you will plan to join us. More details will follow. For now, mark those calendars!
Donations for the Food Bank at the Second TLWT Event, Nov 09
Then, in June and once again in conjunction with the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina we will help kick-off their Kids Summer Stock month as they gear up to stock up for the summer months.
Often times, we forget that a large percentage of our children population who are on free or reduced lunch during the school year don’t get 3 nutritious meals during the summer months because they are no longer in school and it’s more difficult for families to supply, especially in these tough economic times.
I met with Jennifer Newbauer of the Food Bank yesterday and as soon as they nail down a date, we will be one of their media sponsors for the event she is putting together. Working title – “Kids Summer Stock Summer Social”. It will be a LARGE event encompassing other area media sponsors & groups. More details will follow soon as the date is confirmed.
May AND June. Two great opportunities to give back to worthy causes all the while mixing and mingling with those you Tweet with. Can’t get any better than that!
